Znojmo Castle – the guardian of history above the Dyje River.
On a strategic promontory, inhabited as early as the 4th millennium BC, the Přemyslid castle was built in the 11th century to guard the trade route from Austria. From the residence of the Moravian margraves to the diplomatic center of the Bohemian kings to the Baroque Deblín castle, it has gone through a turbulent history – including the Hussite wars and a fire in the 17th century. Today, its story comes to life in the museum, where frescoes by Jan Michael Fisée tell the story of the glory of the Bohemian lands.

Between Vranov and Znojmo, the 40 km long valley of the Dyje River winds its way, where rock walls, meanders and forest-steppes create a unique mosaic of nature.
